Hot Media

All you online fans of Gone With The Wind are in for a unique treat. You may think you've seen, heard or read everything there is to know about the classic film. But we've got a few fairly amazing Gone With The Wind experiences in store for you, right here on the Web.

TAKE A VIRTUAL TOUR
Next time one of your non-browsing friends accuses you of being a couch potato who never goes anywhere, you can tell them you went to Atlanta today. Well, almost. The truth is, you're just a few mouse clicks away from walking around inside the apartment house where Margaret Mitchell wrote her famous book on a second-hand typewriter. Using a cool new technology from IBM called PanoramIX, you can fully indulge your voyeuristic side, walking freely through the late authoress' bedroom, living room and humble kitchen.

And just as soon as you've caught your breath from walking up and down the stairs in Margaret Mitchell's place, you'll want to check out a gallery of classic Gone With The Wind movie posters from all over the world. As in Mitchell's apartment, you can walk through the gallery at your own pace, even zoom in for a detailed look at a particular poster that caught your eye. And for all you gaming lovers, we've made the gallery a little hard to find though. Hint: you enter from the kitchen.

SEE A HYPERLINKED VIDEO
After you've exhausted yourself walking around in the Mitchell house and poster gallery, you may want to just kick back and watch a video. Well, if passive video watching is what you'd expect, then you're in for a surprise - a pleasant one. Using another cool technology from IBM, called HotVideo, you can see a video on the Web unlike any other you've probably seen before. These videos respond to you - they show you what you're interested in seeing when you want to see it. Just click right on one of the "hotspots" in the clip as it plays and you're instantly shown more information about the object you clicked. It really is one of those "you have to see it to get it" kind of things. But we think you'll enjoy it. There's a HotVideo clip about the Tara plantation, one about the Confederate soldiers and another about artifacts from the Civil War era.
